About MHornsby

Hello, and welcome. I’m an acrylic painter whose work is rooted in florals and also embraces landscapes, still life, and interior scenes. I painted in oils for years before—somewhat reluctantly—switching to acrylics. Now I love them for their quick drying time and the way they let me build luminous layers that often yield wonderfully surprising results.

I hold a degree in art/art education and previously taught art; today I paint full time and lead small classes for adults. Balancing studio work and teaching is a commitment, but it’s one I genuinely enjoy.

South Carolina has been home all my life—first growing up in Florence and now living in Columbia. My husband, Will, and I have one daughter (coincidentally a florist) and three grandchildren who are, of course, perfect. I sell my work through local shops and online, and I frequently participate in juried exhibitions across the state.
